"You could buy the same car for €45,000"
A man has claimed that his brother-in-law was quoted the astronomical number of €51,350 for renting a car!
His brother-in-law, who is due to visit Ireland in the coming weeks, is only looking to rent the car for a whole NINE days!
The man investigated the cost of renting a nine-seater so that he and his family could venture to some of the more scenic and remote areas of the Island.
However, the figure he was met with was startling, almost over €5,000 its the normal price!
Taking to Twitter, John McCartin says
"Brother-in-law quoted over €51,000 for 9 days car rental for his family holiday to Ireland this summer."
"Presuming he’ll do 150km per day, a helicopter would be a lot cheaper. #RipOffIreland #PriceGouging"

McCartin, a former Co. Leitrim councillor, spoke out against the rental company’s price on his local radio.
"The rates that are being sought are nothing short of extortionate and an embarrassment to the country and to be honest, that is injurious to the future of any business that operates in the tourism industry."
He went on to state that he understands there are supply chain issues for cars, but these prices are an "embarrassment to the country."
How much do you think is too much for a car rental?
