Are you sick of dating apps?
Do you wish you could avoid catfishing and mindless swiping, and meet someone in real life?
A new social experiment is pushing people to do just that, and using a well-known method to flash their relationship status.
A "pear ring" acts as the opposite of a wedding ring, and shows strangers you are single and open to being chatted up.

The experiment comes as recent research showed 64% of UK singles would prefer to meet a partner in person, compared with only 36% in 2019.
For a one-off payment of €23.95 you will receive your pear ring, a subtle silicone ring that tells the world you're ready to flirt.
The ring is available in sizes XXS all the way up to XXXL, and can also be stretched if needed. The payment will include the ring, as well as a unique Pear membership number, allowing access to PearFest, the world's largest singles event.
