A new survey has revealed that Irish people are five times more likely to have a one-night stand in December.
A survey by Illicit Encounters has revealed that the month leading up to Christmas was the most popular time for one-night stands, with over half of men and women saying they were most likely to happen for them over the holiday period.
The Irish Mirror reports that alcohol is a key factor in precipitating these kinds of encounters. The news outlet says that 82% of women and 84% of men who have had one-night stands say they had been consuming alcohol beforehand.
Speaking to the Mirror, a spokesperson for Illicit Encounters said: "Everyone will be partying harder this year after two years of restrictions, and that is bound to lead to a surge of one-night stands and more cheating. Most people really enjoy them and just see them as a fun part of the partying season."
