An Irish artist is looking to appreciate the beauty of woman by painting their 'boobs'.
Artist Geraldine Carton has caused a ruckus on Instagram after announcing auditions for models.
There will be a 'painting of 20-30 small portraits of boobs' she says.
She posts on Instagram: "I am creating a body of work for a 2024 exhibition in @rhagallery which celebrates women in all our wild, realistic, unhinged and imperfect glory. As part of that project I will be painting 20-30 small portraits of boobs, and I am looking for models."
The working title of her project will be 'BOOBS', which will be creating for RHA Gallery in Dublin.
Explaining her decision to paint the breasts of women, the artiste explained: "Most women - myself included - have felt varying levels of shame, mortification and disgust for our breasts throughout our adult life.
"Whether the jugs in question were deemed too big/ too small/ not perky enough/ uneven/ lopsided nipples/ wrecked post-childbirth".
The artist has also explained that woman of all sizes, sexual orientation and race are welcome to audition.
She however notes that some women are under-represented and will be particularly interested in women aged 50yrs+, women in big bodies, black women, brown women, Asian women, trans women
and women who feel particularly bothered by the appearance of their boobs.
