Getting sick on holiday is the pits.

How can you ensure your glamorous getaway doesn't turn into a trip to Ecoli-town? There are some holiday destinations that are much more likely to result in heads in toilet bowls than others.

The Forbes Advisor Travel Bug Index has revealed that Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, is the top travel sickness spot, with Egypt's Sharm El Sheikh coming in second place and Cape Verde's Sal in third place.

Forbes reviewed millions of TripAdvisor reviews looking for words relating to travel illness such as 'salmonella', 'gastroenteritis' and 'food poisoning'. Destinations were then scored from 0-100 on the "Travel Bug Index' to reveal the worst offending holiday resorts.
