Valentine’s has always been a day where couples celebrate each other’s love whether they're married, engaged or just simply dating for a couple of months. Why is it that single people never get to celebrate it too? It’s a day of love, for everyone. So, to make the day easier for you, we’ve put together a list of the 5 best things to do as a single person on this day of lurrrrrve.
Watch Rom Coms
Given the day that’s in it, there’s no better way to cheer yourself up than by watching magical stories of other people’s destinies being fulfilled. We recommend Bridget Jones’ Diary, Love Actually (yes, we know it’s a Christmas film but come on, it’s class,) anything with Hugh Grant in it and of course, The 40 Year Old Virgin.
Whenever I feel blue, Hugh Grant's cheesy rom-coms never fail to cheer me up.

Eat a Whole Pizza by Yourself
The most annoying thing about being in a relationship for most people is having to share your food. As singletons, we don’t have this problem so let’s take advantage of it! Order a pizza, a big one, put whatever toppings you want on it without having the pineapple on a pizza debate and eat it all by yourself. And feel bloody good about it.
Listen to Your Favourite Break Up Album
Whether it be Damien Rice’s O, Kanye’s 808s and Heartbreak or Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago have a listen to your favourite break up album and celebrate the fact that you do not have to go through all that heartbreak anytime soon! Nothing makes you feel better about your own life than hearing sob stories about other people’s lives, so embrace the music.
Buy Yourself a Present
You’re awesome, you know it, so treat yourself! Whether it be a lovely new necklace, a new GAA jersey, a manicure or a big bucket of chicken wings, get out there and celebrate yourself, you deserve something nice!
my plan for Valentine's day:
1. buy a present for myself
2. go on a date with myself (if no miracle happens)
3. go to work while looking absolutely ravishing
4. HAVE FUN at work
5. go for tea and cheesecake with other single co-workers after work— Veronique🦢 (@WanderingAngelx) February 8, 2018
Write a Poem
Bear with me, I know this sounds strange but think about it – love and poetry have always gone hand in hand, but that’s not fair. Why should the loved-up couples get all the poetry? Write a poem about yourself, how great you are and why you love yourself. As we said, you’re awesome so embrace your inner Patrick Kavanagh and write about how great you are!
For school I have to write a poem about how great I am. This is going to be so easy
