A mysterious and touching tribute to a loved one has puzzled Fethard-on-Sea locals since a fishing trawler landed the note among its catch some weeks back.
The six month-old note appears to be written in dedication to the writer's grandmother whose birthday coincided with the day of its release in Co. Waterford.
Jane McKenna, who sent the note to Beat says a photo of the letter had been shared on social media since its appearance, but the author 'Andrea' has yet to come forward.
Below is a transcript for anyone who can't read the note:
"To my angel Nan (Mrs D)
Sending you this special balloon [sic] to you in heaven for your 86th birthday.
I'm always thinking of you and miss you so so much. It breaks my heart. I wish you were [sic] here so I could give you the biggest hugs & kisses.
Love and miss you. Forever. Love from your Granddaughter Andrea"

It was released [sic] on my nan's birthday on the [sic] 3rd of Feb 2017 (86 yrs old RIP)
