Explained: Should you brush your teeth before or after breakfast?

Do you brush your teeth before or after you have a spot of breakfast in the morning?

If you said after, then you are wrong apparently!

TikTok sensation and former Love Island contestant Dr Alex George has explained why you should brush your teeth before you eat your Coco Pops.

The UK's Mental Health Ambassador explains that it does make sense to brush your teeth after your first meal of the day, however, it does more harm than good!

When you eat food, your mouth becomes acidic and when you brush your teeth afterwards, the acidity is being brushed into your enamel.

Dr George says if you brush your teeth before you eat, there are chemicals in toothpaste that protect/seal your teeth from that acidity.

So the advice is, to brush your teeth as soon as you get up, and then before you go to bed1
