Sudafed definitely wouldn’t be able to solve this one.
A man from England claimed to have difficulty breathing through his right nostril for several years only for doctors to discover a tooth growing inside his nose.
An initial examination by his local clinic believed it to be a deviated septum (when the thin wall between each nasal passage is displaced to one side) and calcified septal spurs. However, he didn’t report a facial trauma or facial abnormalities.
After a rhinoscopy, doctors unearthed the cause of his troubles: a tooth. Specifically, an ectopic tooth. Ectopic is a term for something that is in an abnormal place or position. This occurrence is extremely rare and even rarer for a body part to appear in the nose.
According to The New England Journal of Medicine, the tooth was removed during oral and otolaryngologic surgery.
It was completed via an intranasal approach and measured 14 mm in length.
Thankfully, it seems that the man can breathe easy now as at follow-up surgery, his nose problems were over.
