Lidl might have their fancy bakery sway going on, but have they a pizza oven?
Aldi may be just about to shake up their grocery game with all-new in-store pizza vending machines.
The machine, dubbed ‘Pizzabot’, can cook up to 450 gourmet pizzas a day, or around 17 per hour, for hungry shoppers from $8.99 AUD each.
The machine has launched exclusively in north Sydney, Australia for a limited time only.
Created in collaboration with a Bondi start-up called Placer Robotics, 'Pizzabot' not only cooks delicious pizzas in 120 seconds, but shoppers can watch their meal as it gets cooked through a see-through screen. Customers can also choose from pepperoni and Italiana toppings, and is made with local ingredients.
According to Indy100, Huw Longman, director of Aldi Corner Store said, “We are extremely excited by our collaboration with Pizzabot, a true Aussie innovation, to deliver great quality pizza and a unique experience, at the lowest price point''.
Sadly, there is no plan to launch the innovation in Ireland as of yet, but with the success the product is currently enjoying, one can hope it could be on its way soon.
