Waves Music Festival

Waves Music Festival

WAVES FESTIVAL is a new one day music festival in Wexford, taking place on Sunday 28th August at Loftus Hall in the historic costal area of Hook Head. The event also hopes to bring music fans from the South-East and beyond into Wexford for a day of family themed top quality entertainment, with music for all tastes. The WAVES FESTIVAL has a capacity of over 4,500 people per day and a purpose built event site will be created at Loftus Hall for the occasion, to provide first class staging and production for the bands and top of the range bar and food facilities for the audience.

WAVES FESTIVAL will feature a headline act who has sold out in locations nationwide. The day will have a support line-up of great live acts, including some brilliant bands from the locality and a fantastic south-east battle of the bands/talent search in association with Beat. WAVES FESTIVAL aims to be one of the best value music events in the country this year with tickets costing just €25.

WAVES FESTIVAL has been put together with the support of Fethard RNLI committee members and friends.

Fethard RNLI have launched a fundraising appeal at their County Wexford lifeboat station marking an 18 month drive to raise funds towards the cost of a new inshore lifeboat.

The volunteer lifeboat crew are due to take ownership of the new D class lifeboat at the end of 2017. As the current lifeboat ‘Trade Winds’ nears the end of its service, an 18-month appeal has been launched to raise the €65,000 needed for a new D class lifeboat.

WAVES FESTIVAL is an integral part of the fundraising appeal and we need all help to achieve this well worth goal.

Why are we raising funds for a new lifeboat?

The RNLI is committed to providing the highest standard of rescue equipment and training to the volunteers

After ten years of saving lives at sea (109 launches and 73 people rescued), Fethard RNLI’s D Class inshore lifeboat ‘Trade Winds’ has served the community well and is now ready for retirement.

The inshore lifeboat is often referred to as the workhorse of the RNLI’s lifeboats. This lifeboat will keep the volunteer crew safe on their way to a rescue, and kitted out with everything they need to locate and assist the casualties who need their help.

The D class lifeboat complements the hook peninsula as it is highly manoeuvrable and specifically suited to surf, shallow water and confined locations, often working close to cliffs and shore.

As a charity, the RNLI depends on the generosity of the public and the goodwill of volunteers to maintain its search and rescue service.

We know we have a massive fundraising appeal ahead of us but we are looking forward to the challenge and will be grateful for any support people can give us as we work towards seeing a new lifeboat in Fethard.
