Ryan Reynolds has announced that he is set to take a break from acting after wrapping on his latest project, Spirited.
The new holiday film sees the Free Guy actor team up with Will Ferrell for Apple TV Plus, which has been in production since July.
Reynolds took to Instagram once production finished for the flick stating it was 'challenging' and that he would be taking a break from the acting world after this film.
"That’s a wrap for me on Spirited. Not sure I’d have been ready to say yes to a film this challenging even three years ago.
"Singing, dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a whole lotta dreams come true. And this is my second film with the great @octaviaspencer…
"Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making. I’m gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists.
"These days, kindness matters as much as talent. I’ve been lucky to work with folks who are flush with both".

Reynolds’ break comes after a calendar filled few years for the actor who has already starred in two movies released in 2021, “Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” and “Free Guy,”. Reynolds served as a producer for the already released Free Guy and is producing his upcoming flick Spirited. As well as these roles, the Deadpool actor has another film on the way in Netflix’s “Red Notice,” a high-budget action movie in which Reynolds co-stars with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot.
“Spirited” is being described as a reimagining of Charles Dickens’ story “A Christmas Carol.” with Ryan playing the Ebenezer Scrooge figure in the movie.
Apple has not set an official release date for the film yet.
