Pilot loses license for taking drone snap of Ed Sheeran concert in Ireland

A drone pilot has lost their license over a photo they took of an Ed Sheeran concert in Cork.

The singer-songwriter touched down in Dublin in April for a spell of gigs which included, Vicar Street, Whelan's and Croke Park.

Tens of thousands of fans arrived in the capital as the Dublin stadium hosted its first major gig since 2019.

Sheeran also played Belfast, Limerick and Cork, in which one pilot had a bit of bad luck, losing their license.

That's according to the Irish Aviation Authority, which says it deemed the flight a risk to the public.

The IAA report states the flight was undertaken without approval over airspace reserved to Cork Airport for safety reasons.
