The actress along with Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba and Angela Bassett had been filming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever since June in Atlanta and Boston.
Fans of the franchise are calling on the titular role of King T'Challa to be recast to keep the essence of Black Panther alive in both the films and in real-life.
“Chadwick Boseman worked through cancer to give T’Challa life. Now you want to kill off T’Challa despite Chadwick Boseman’s hard work and sacrifice? #RecastTchalla out of respect for Chadwick and the character’s history!” wrote one fan.
Another added: “I know this is a bit of a hot take but a lot of this rumoured on set drama of Black Panther 2 might’ve been prevented if they just recast T’Challa. I know people loved Chadwick Boseman, I did too, but that character had more stories to tell.”

According to TMZ, the brother of the late Chadwick Boseman seems to agree with Marvel fans.
Derrick Boseman spoke to TMZ about recasting the role and said the right thing is to keep King T'Challa alive.
yes, he does think T'Challa needs to live on in the 'Black Panther' franchise, and if that means tapping another actor to portray the king of Wakanda -- the role Chadwick made famous and legendary, then so be it. Derrick tells us he believes his sibling would've wanted with this too -- explaining Chadwick thought T'Challa was bigger than just himself as one guy. Frankly, Derrick says Chadwick knew the power of the character, and the positive influence it carries.
Derrick says there's so much power in seeing a Black king -- especially in a superhero capacity, like in the Marvel flick -- which has a HUGE impact on African-American youth.
Chadwick's brother explains that the actor never explicitly spoke before his untimely death of what he would wish would happen to the much-loved character however he explained that he believes his brothers wish would be to see Black Panther live on in the MCU.
Last month producer Nate Moore explained why they would not replace Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.
On an episode of The Ringer-Verse Podcast, Moore confirmed that the studio would replace or use a computer-generated version of the actor in forthcoming Black Panther sequels.
The MCU producer said: “We just couldn’t do it.”
Chadwick Boseman died on 28th August 2020 at the age of 43 following a four-year battle with colon cancer. He kept his illness private.
Posthumously, the actor won a Golden Globe for his performance in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
His wife Taylor Simone Leward accepted the award on his behalf.
“He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifice.”
“He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice that tells you you can, that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you were meant to be doing at this moment in history.”
