The Argentine superstar now holds the record for the most-liked Instagram post of all time.
A collection of photos posted to his account shows the 'little magician' lifting the World Cup trophy and celebrating with his triumphant teammates.

A historic photograph of Messi holding the World Cup trophy over his head has taken the top spot, with the Argentine also holding 2 more in the social media platform's top 5.

The previous record bizarrely shows a simple photograph of an egg, which shot to internet fame in 2019.
The owner of the @world_record_egg remained a mystery for some time before the New York Times reported British advertising executive Chris Godfrey as the creator of the record-breaking post.
The sole purpose of the account was to get as many likes as possible, Godfrey and two associates were reported as saying.
