Matt Smith says the Game of Thrones spin-off series will be "really different" to its sister show.
The Doctor Who star will appear in 'House of Dragon' - which is set 200 years before its predecessor.
The prequel will focus on the Targaryen family, and their rule over Westeros, with The Crown star playing Daemon.
The original series, which gripped fans around the world, was Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” with the creators of the critically acclaimed television show, David Benioff and Daniel .B. Weiss, meeting each other while studying in Dublin.

Game of Thrones ran for eight seasons and received a total of 270 awards and over 740 award nominations.
Matt Smith says the original series was "so brilliant" that creators had to make the new programme even more special.
Other stars to appear in the prequel series include Paddy Considine (HBO’s The Third Day and The Outsider), Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One), Emma D’Arcy (Truth Seekers), Steve Toussaint (It’s a Sin, Doctor Who), Eve Best (Nurse Jackie, The King’s Speech), Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina, Crazy Rich Asians).

The HBO Max series will come to the small screens in 2022.
