Drake is down an astonishing one million dollars as a result of the World Cup outcome.
The Canadian rapper actually bet that Argentina would win the World Cup final. But he still lost out, as his team was supposed to win the match in normal time. Argentina scooped the trophy by beating France 4-2 in penalties, so Drake still has to hand over a huge sum of money.

Drake stood to win $2.75 million on his sports bet, but the screenshot above shows this was a 1x2 market bet. With this type of bet, the team must win in regulation time. Due to Mbappé's last-minute goal, Drake's luck swiftly turned around and he lost his bet on a technicality
Drake's misfortune has led many to speculate he was hit by the so-called "Drake curse", a theory that the rapper has a supernaturally bad effect on sports teams.
Drake previously backed boxer Anthony Joshua to defeat Andy Ruiz Jr, a match which ended in a sudden K.O for Joshua. In 2019 he posed with PSG player Layvin Kurzawa, only for the team to suffer a devastating loss against Lille. He has even been linked to the defeat of Serena Williams in the U.S. Open back in 2015.
