A recording of David Walliams making derogatory comments about contestants on Britain's Got Talent has been leaked.
Transcripts shown to the Guardian newspaper revealed that the BGT judge called one contestant "a c***" and said of another "she thinks you want to f*** her but you don't."
The second incident is said to have occurred shortly after a female contestant auditioning had walked off stage. When her performance was over, Walliams remarked: "She’s like the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to f**k them, but you don’t."He then added: "I know, she’s just like: ‘Oh, f**k off!’ I was saying, she thinks you want to f**k her, but you don’t. It’s the last thing on your mind, but she’s like: ‘Yep, I bet you do!’ ‘No I don’t!’ I had a bit of a boner, but now it’s going, it’s now shrivelled up inside my body."
It is understood the comments were made during a discussion between judges at an audition show at the London Palladium in 2020. It is alleged that the audio was picked up by microphones on the judge's desk, but was never intended to be released and was part of a private discussion between judges.
Walliams has issued a statement apologising for the offensive remarks."I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain's Got Talent in 2020. These were private conversations and - like most conversations with friends - were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry."
According to Sky News, creator of BGT Simon Cowell and his company Syco Entertainment said "they did not condone Walliams' remarks" and "that Cowell had not been aware of the remarks at the time."
The Guardian reviewed transcripts leaked from three BGT auditions. So far there is no evidence, that Cowell or other BGT judges made similar offensive remarks.
