The cost of living in Ireland is higher than in most countries in Europe.
That's according to a report in the Irish Independent, which shows the cost of soft drinks, alcohol, cars and concerts is the highest of the major countries across the continent.
It's as rising inflation and higher taxes hit consumers on the double, with Ireland compared to the UK, Germany, Spain and France in the survey.
The cost of secondhand cars rose by 56% between March 2020 and December 2021, with a 2012 Verso-S that would have cost €4,600 now costing an average of €7,500.
While the price of new cars has also increased exponentially, with a 2019 Hyundai Tuscon Diesel now costs over €5,500 higher than the current spec car.
The cost of an Apple iPhone costs €929 in Ireland, behind only the UK, but higher than Germany, France and Spain.
However, the report also showed that bread, milk, cereals and baby food are cheaper here than in those other countries.
