The ASTI say their representatives have had 'constructive engagement' with the Minister for Education Norma Foley and her officials today.
In a brief statement from the union released this afternoon, they say "more work is being done with a view to finding a resolution to the impasse."
It's as plans for the 2021 Leaving Certificate exams are still uncertain, with students calling on clarity on the situation, with mock exams rapidly approaching.
The Irish Second-Level Students’ Union has said it is 'shocked and disappointed' by the ASTI's initial decision to withdraw from talks with Minister Foley yesterday evening.
They say that this is a time when students need cooperation between all stakeholders after what has been a horrendous year for students.
Speaking to Beat News ISSU Officer for Wexford Quinton Kelly says the ASTI is still refusing to talk with their union.
"Over the past number of weeks the ISSU has repeatedly asked to met with the ASTI.
"We will continue to seek a meeting with the ASTI - as a stakeholder, they have an equal responsibility to work with the other stakeholders to find a solution.
"As a student, I am witnessing that skyrocket in stress and worry. We should have clarity now."
