It seems you don't have to travel too far to have a taste of the world's best pork sausage.
The World Butchers’ Challenge is a butchery competition of epic proportions.
Among the butcher sector, it is the most highly anticipated event in the industry calendar.
The competition was hosted on American ground for the first time this year.
Butchers from far and wide made their way to Sacramento, California at the iconic Golden 1 Center in the United States of America.
Taking home the accolade to Irish soil, the winner of the World's Best Pork Sausage category was awarded to Murphy's Craft Butchers in Tullow, Co. Carlow.
Speaking following the win, Murphy's Butchers said their pork sausages are for meat lovers, young and old.
"Our sausages are made using an old family recipe which we have perfected over the course of a number of training sessions.
"To win this award demonstrates how hard we have worked to achieve this result. Our Pork sausages stand out from the crowd because they are a family-friendly style and very TASTY.
"They appeal to all pallets from the very young to the very old.
"We hope you enjoy the “best pork sausage in the world”.
It was not the only award to be taken home by Murphy's Butchers on the night.
They also won "Best Breaking/Boning team member in the World".
Sharing their news online they said the atmosphere at the World Butchers Challenge was fantasic.
"To represent your country is one of the highest achievements in your field of expertise, and for Bernadeta and I to be on the same team was an even bigger achievement.
"Walking out into the Golden 1 Arena, the home to the Sacramento Kings NBA basketball team was a dream come true for both of us.
"The competition was fantastic, 3 ½ hours of hard work, we used all our creative skills to produce a fantastic themed display.
"During the competition we produced great products including our award-winning Pork Sausages.
"The Arena was full of fans from all over the world cheering on their teams with flags flying and songs galore."
