All this week, Beat shines a spotlight on emergency and rescue services in the South East.
In five episodes, we travel across the region and talk to the people who risk their lives every day to save others.
From the mountains to the seas, the skies, and the ground, rescue and emergency calls happen every day in the South East.
We hear from South Eastern Mountain Rescue, Carlow Fire and Rescue Service, the Irish Community Air Ambulance, Tramore RNLI and Waterford City River Rescue.
SEMRA (South East Mountain Rescue) recorded its highest amount of call-outs ever this year with Tramore RNLI also breaking its yearly record of call-outs, attending to 27 last year, which shows the need for rescue crew in the region.
During the series, you will hear how Carlow Fire and Rescue service reacts to an emergency call, as a house fire call came through to the station during the middle of our interview with the Chief Firefighter.
