Ava Somers

Born and reared in Co. Wexford, Ava attended CBS New Ross before completing her education at University College Cork. There she discovered her passion for journalism while studying Law. Ava broadcast her first radio show from her Wexford bedroom during lockdown in 2020, and upon returning to college, continued her career as a radio presenter. For her work at UCC's 98.3 FM, she was shortlisted for the Smedia Radio Journalist of the Year award in 2023. Additionally, she co-hosts the Lick the Stamp podcast on motorsports and served as an in-house Hot Press Ambassador for Motley Magazine. Ava originally fell in love with IrishBeats when she was a little girl, and she now brings the finest of Irish music to the South East every Sunday from 8-10 pm.
